High Intensity Bodybuilding Techniques
How many bodybuilding articles have
you read telling you that you need 'ALL OUT INTENSITY' or that you
need to get 'fired up' before your workout, leaving you to wonder
what exactly they really meant? I mean those words are pretty vague
and no one has actually specified what they really mean when they
say them. Even more specifically, maybe you questioned how one bodybuilder
can muscle out a last few additional reps even though he's beet
red, screaming with pain and sweating like he's under a shower -
while another may only be able to handle a few and then call it
quits? Not only am I going to answer those questions for you, I
will show you, step by step, how to improve your workout results
simply by gaining a better understanding of how your own mind works.
The first step to tapping into your inner workout demon is visualization.
Can you imagine what your
body will look like when you are as muscular and ripped as you want
to be? Close your eyes for a second and curl your bicep slowly.
As you do this imagine seeing your arm bigger and more muscular
than it has ever been and just notice as you do this how much stronger
you feel. Take a few minutes and really feel this. Now imagine how
much weight you would be able to handle with good form if your arm
was that big. Quite a bit Im guessing. Well what do you think would
happen if you were to imagine your arm this way as you were working
out?
In
short, you would actually be stronger!
Maybe not as much as youre
imagined arm but the weight you would be lifting will actually feel
lighter because you are telling your body that it is. The visualization
sends the message to the subconscious mind that this is what you
want and it will make the corresponding change. As important as
visualization is, another distinctly important aspect to this in
your own internal dialog in conjunction with that.
We all have an internal
voice that talks to us as we do things. A voice that resides in
us that tells us things as well as makes comments both complementary
and condescending. If you have ever done anything that didn't turn
out the way you had hoped, and just as you finished you heard the
voice inside your head say, "that was stupid" then you
know the voice I'm talking about. In the past this voice may have
only functioned as critical. Now, we will harness that voice inside
your head to make you the strongest S.O.B youve ever met! Next time
you enter the gym say to yourself that you are going to have a better
workout than you have ever had before. Use a voice with commanding
tone so that you believe it and feel it! Once you feel that this
is true you will begin to understand the enormous power of that
voice.
This
is not just for pre-workout; it is actually more important to use
this tool during your workout!
Think about what you say inside your
head when you're working out. Do you talk yourself out of that final
rep? Do you convince yourself youre not strong enough to get to
a new plateau? Everyone has something standing in the way; so find
out what yours is and get rid of it. Tell yourself things like "I
WILL get two more reps!", "This IS light!", "i
AM strong", "I AM constantly getting stronger". This
positive self-talk will push you through plateaus and beyond. However,
when talking to yourself remember to always talk in the affirmative;
by this I mean, "I WILL lift more" and not "I WILL
NOT lift less" You always want to direct you body and mind
where you want them to go and not what you want to get away from.
For Example if I say, "i want to be lean, strong and healthy"
it means something very different than "I don't want to be
fat".
Remember
-- your words have power in them, especially the ones you say to
yourself.
So change
the voice and you change the way you feel about your workout forever!
Feeling
your workout
How do you feel when you work out? Do you feel exhilarated because
your heart is racing, your body is tingling from the rushing blood
and your breathing in so much air that you feel like you're at the
top of Mt. Everest? No? Then you may want to ask yourself if you
are really working out hard enough. Take a moment and think about
the feeling you get from working out. You should feel more alive
during and after each workout then you do at almost any other time.
The point here is to magnify and idolize your workout.
Every
time you enter the gym your body should expect to be utilized to
the extreme - and should love you for doing it.
Perhaps we should look
at it another way. Some would say that the worst part about working
out is the 'burn' however this is exactly the time when you grow
the most. Pushing through the burn to get to complete muscular failure
is where you want to be. So next time you work out it's important
to talk to yourself so you let your body know where it is you are
trying to go. This way when the burn kicks in you can blast through
it to muscular failure and grow like never before.
As you begin to realize
the usefulness of these techniques and utilize them to their full
potential you will find that there is no such thing as a plateau.
And the more you utilize your mind to direct your subconscious body
to grow big and strong, the faster you will obtain the results you
want. So engage your mind to enhance your body and the seeds you
sow in your mind will be reaped by your physique. |
